New Patient Information
Welcome! Essence of China Acupuncture & Herb Clinic is a health care facility located at 1717 West 86th Street, Suite 120, Indianapolis, Indiana. The clinic started in 1997. Our practice is dedicated to providing quality individual health care naturally.
Your first appointment will usually take 60 to 90 minutes. Please bring your previous medical diagnosis with you if you have. On your first visit to our office, you will be asked to fill out the New Patient Intake Form which will help us gain some information about yourself and your condition. Also you will need to review and sign the HIPAA Privacy Notice. If you would like, you may fill out the New Patient Intake Form (PDF format) and the HIPAA Privacy Notice (PDF format) by downloading and printing out them. Otherwise, please come to our office 20 minutes early to fill out these forms. Ms. Lei Shaw will then talk with you and ask you some specific questions regarding your condition to determine what cause(s) your problem.
After a thorough consultation, Ms. Lei Shaw may do four exams for you according to Traditional Chinese Medicine to look for signs of imbalance. She will examine your skin, tongue, and hair, as well as other parts of your body (from the brightness of your eyes to the color of your nails), and will check six pulses on each of your wrists. She will also listen to your voice to assess your shen (spirit), and will work to determine if one or more of your organ networks are affected. She will then try to correct any imbalances in your body by providing a combination of therapies.
Acupuncture moves a lot of energy in your body. You should have something to eat within two hours of your scheduled appointment time so your body has energy to move. If you can't have a meal, a nutritious snack is OK. A bag of chips and a can of pop does not count as a nutritious snack. We invite you to come and experience what thousands years old medicine would help you and reach your full potential through natural health care.
We make every effort to minimize the cost of your care. You can help by paying for treatment at the time of your visit. For your convenience we accept Visa, MasterCard as well as cash or checks.
